Spring is here! Come and celebrate at the dog park. This event is FREE and open to EVERYONE, not just park members.

The microchip clinic runs from 1:30-3:00 PM. The cost is $45.00, which includes the microchip, registration plus a donation to the dog park. Please RSVP yes on our Facebook page and comment so we know how many chips to bring.

All dogs are welcome to attend the event, but only park members will be allowed in the off-leash areas.

Grab a hat, grab your dog and Strut Your Mutt! Saturday, May 4th, Roxy Reading will be having its first annual Derby Parade in Doylestown. There will be a hat contest and other fun awards. Plus, merchants will be donating a portion of sales and restaurants will be featuring Derby inspired fare!

New Orientation and Registration Dates

Spring will be here before you know it. Join the Doylestown Dog Park now!

ORIENTATION:

March 16th (Saturday), 10:30 – 11:30 AM
Registration will start at 11:30 AM

March 20th (Wednesday), 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Registration will start at 6:00 PM

April 6th (Saturday), 3:15 – 4:15 PM
Registration will start at 4:15 PM

The first hour will be Orientation, followed by Registration! Registration is open to anyone who has completed an Orientation course. If you are coming to Orientation and want to Register right after, please bring all of your paperwork.

To RSVP for Orientation, please create a household account with Doylestown Township at http://www.doylestownrec.com (or login if you already have created one). Next click on Activities on the right and then click on Doylestown Dog Park Orientation and register for one of the upcoming classes. Make sure you “Checkout” even though it’s FREE so we know you’re coming.

Please arrive early. Anyone arriving 10 minutes after the class begins will be turned away to attend a future class. There is a lot to go over so we need everyone present to hear all the same information.

All classes are held at the Township Activity Center – 425 Wells Rd Doylestown. The Activity Center is behind the Township Administration building. Go to the right of the Admin building, past the garages, and turn left at the recycle bins. The Activity Center is the red building.

We have over 200 families enjoying the dog park! We need to get our membership numbers up to 500 families to support the dog park at the current fees! If you would like to attend orientation or registration, the next one is Nov 28th. Great for anyone coming to visit from out of town for Thanksgiving who would like to join! Please make sure pets are on a SHORT LEASH (flexi leashes cause chaos!), are up to date on all vaccinations and are well behaved around other dogs.

It’s sad that we have to say this, but, there’s always one person every year that needs to hear this message: animal abuse of any kind will not be tolerated. Do not bring your dog on a choke chain and give him/her corrections or yell at him/her to try to get them to pose for the picture!

Registration Step by Step:
0. Before you come, you must create a household account at www.doylestownrec.com They can’t register you without it so make sure you do it before you bring all your papers and form in

1. You must register in person.

2. Complete the registration form, sign off sheet, and waiver (pgs. 19-22 in the Dog Park Application & Info Packet). Doylestown Borough and Township citizens will be registered at the resident rate. All other residency is determine by where your taxes are paid.

3. Bring your registration form, waiver, copies of your vaccination documentation (Bordetella, Distemper and Rabies) , dog license receipt, and your original orientation certificate to the Township Building or Off-Site Registration location.

Township Registration Hours: Monday through Friday from 9am to 3:30pm

Off-Site Registration:

Wed. Nov. 28th, 8:00 pm, Doylestown Township. Activity Center (425 Wells Road, Doylestown, PA 18901, behind the Township Building at Central Park)

4. Submit all documentation and pay the registration fee.

5. Checks only at Off-Site Registration events. Cash, checks, credit card are accepted at the Doylestown Township Bldg.

6. Receive your key fob and tag for your dog. A key fob is required to enter the dog park. The tag will identify your dog as registered for the dog park.

7. Your receipt will be emailed to you If you do not have email please provide a self addressed stamped envelope.

Hurricane Sandy schedule disruptions….

Orientation and Registration on Tues Oct 30 may very well be cancelled. I may not have internet access to post about it so please use your common sense to decide- if the schools are closed then it’s definitely cancelled because our session is at Lenape. If the roads/flooding is bad then it won’t happen because our volunteers won’t be able to get there to set up. I do not know when it will be rescheduled but stay tuned to find out. Also, plan on the dog park being closed for a few days for flooding to subside. The ground there turns to clay in heavy rain and we don’t want any turned ankles (dog or human!) We’ll keep you posted if/when we hear more from the Township.

The Bucks County Animal Response Team will be setting up an animal shelter at a Red Cross shelter in central/upper bucks and need help with people who can deploy. Doylestown Dog Park in the news!

Volunteer members of the Friends of Doylestown Dog Park from Doylestown Borough and across Bucks County were honored by a resolution passed by Doylestown Borough Council on October 15th thanking all for their tireless volunteer efforts over the past 3 1/2 years.
